Your £175 welcome bonus*
*To qualify for your £175, you need to pay at least £1,000 into the new account over the first 30 days. You can spend that money like normal — you don’t need to save it.
New customers to first direct only, who have not previously held a first direct product. Account must be opened before the offer is widthdrawn to qualify. Sorry, First Direct can’t offer this to people who have opened an HSBC current account on or after 1 January 2018.
Full CASS switch including at least two Direct Debits or Standing Orders must be made within the first 30 days of account opening. Register and log onto digital banking within the first 30 days of account opening. You must use your account’s debit card more than 5 times to be eligible.
Where your first direct account is a joint account, at least one of the joint account holders must complete the CASS switch from either a sole account in their own name or another in the same names.
You must continue to hold your first direct account on the date the Offer Payment is made. Current Account subject to status. Offer can be withdrawn at any time.
Representative example:
£250 interest and fee free overdraft, subject to status. If you then use an arranged overdraft of £1,200 you will be charged 39.9% EAR variable. Representative APR: 30.5%. How does this overdraft compare? Representative APRs help you compare the cost of different products.

No, you need to have paid at least £1,000 into the account over the first 30 days. If it helps, think of the money “passing through” the account. So long as at least £1,000 has entered the account over 30 days, it doesn’t matter if you immediately spend it.
Yes, you can switch and still take advantage of the £175 offer. You’ll need to agree to a new overdraft with first direct first though.
If you meet all the conditions of the offer, you’ll get the £175 before the 20th of the following month.
Yes, but only if you joined HSBC before 1 January 2018.
Probably you! You just need to be over 18, a UK resident and haven't been declared bankrupt or registered for an Individual Voluntary Agreement in the last six years (or be in the process of doing so). You also need to have a phone number and email address so we can get in touch with you.
