Channel 4 Documentary - 11 09 09
Look out for the Cutting Edge documentary. There is no name agreed as yet and it is likely to be the end of October. We've seen some rough edits and it looks fantastic. There's amazing footage of Mike sailing deep in the Southern Ocean and insight into the emotional rollercoaster that Mike and his family were on throughout the trip. It shows that the trip was much more challenging in many ways than Mike ever let on to us all at the time.

Will this documentary be made available via DVD for purchase outside of the UK? Currently, Channel 4 programming is not available for viewing or download in North America.
I would definitely want to own this for posterity.
Comment by Dan Drimmie near Toronto on September 15th, 2009 at 11:51 pmI am also interested in how to view this in the USA. I have been following Mike for months and want to be able to see this.
Comment by Kay Wuske on September 22nd, 2009 at 2:52 pmMe too, we can't download Channel 4 in NZ either. strangely, without mike's blog, getting on the computer for work each day is not as much fun.
Mike's new challenge, while cool, is well, odd that he would do a trip celebrating a person who was mean to the crew. I mean the trip is a great feat, but well, sort of not as cool as someone making the same trip because of adventure.
I might check now and then, because mike and the rest of the crew are so neat, and good sailors, it is just I wish they had chosen someone else's trip to follow.
Michael.
Comment by Michael from NZ on October 5th, 2009 at 7:58 amGreat documentary last night - was it accurate or edited to give a more dramatic slant?
Mike's blogs seemed very upbeat and positive, and relatively understated while the documentary seemed to focus on Drama and Crisis - which is more accurate?
Will there be a book soon so I can hear words from Mikes own mouth?

Comment by Esme ferne on November 7th, 2009 at 1:02 amI think it shows how, even if you are young you are capable of anything!
From the videos Mike looks like a nice person and the kind of person that deserves the record, especially considering the difficulties that arose and how maturely he dealt with them. And all along the way he seemed to rely enjoy it and have fun as well- well done!!!!!

Channel 4 has not made this docu available to anyone out side of the UK. My email to the producers of the film (Blink Studios) has gone unanswered save for an automated acknowledgement that my eamil was received nearly 2 weeks ago. This is becoming very frustrating to the rest of us throughout the world who spent the past year following Mike.
Comment by Dan near Toronto on November 10th, 2009 at 3:32 amI've just viewed the "Cutting Edge" docu of Mike's voyage..."The Schoolboy who sailed around the World". What an epic voyage! Now we know the rest of the story, which wasn't really evident from his daily blogs and vids. What a story! I had tears several times while watching this.
For you folks also living outside the UK, you can view it at the following link. Just click on the button in upper centre of page "show me....." http://www.wisevid.com/view_video.php?viewkey=nqvzjpzf77akvh014141#
After watching this, my total respect for Mike will never diminish.
