Pride at TotallyMoney

Jul 18th 2022At TotallyMoney we believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace, where people truly enjoy what they do, is key to building the best product for the needs of our diverse customers.
June 2022 marked the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK. While a lot has changed for the better during the last half-century, there’s still some way to go before members of the LGBTQ+ community feel that they can truly be themselves in any and all workplaces.
Pride Month…
This Pride Month, we ran a number of presentations and spotlights led by members of TotallyMoney's LGBTQ+ community and their allies.
This started with a series in which we shared a Pride flag fact of the week. These included the LGBTQ+ flags of Gilbert Baker and the Progress Pride Flags, to the history of Lesbian Pride flags, Page’s Bi Pride flag, the Trans Pride flag by Monica Helms, and Morgan Carpenter’s Intersex Flag. By sharing each flag, its meaning and its cultural importance, we were able to raise awareness and educate.
We also held weekly presentations which covered a number of topics — from discussions around LGBTQ+ representation in football, to a presentation by our People Director, Dee Jas who highlighted the discrimination against members of the LGBTQ+ community and how to be an ally. We also held a session which aimed to debunked common misconceptions about bisexuality.
…and beyond
We’re serious that Pride isn’t just an annual event, and that our work on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) continues throughout the year. That way we can ensure TotallyMoney continues to advance itself as a supportive, open and welcoming workplace.
We’re excited to be inviting members of the LGBTQ+ community to TotallyMoney on an ongoing basis, to share more about their diverse experiences on a number of topics.
Later this month, we’re launching our first ever DE&I Committee, who will work closely with the company to ensure DE&I remains top of our strategic agenda at TotallyMoney.
We’re expanding our internal DE&I Notion resource page, so team members can continue to self educate on diverse topics. We’re also launching our new DE&I Slack channel, so the conversations don’t stop here.
At TotallyMoney, we’re proud to support our local community. To that end, it's with great pleasure that I can announce we'll be supporting the charity, akt.
akt works to prevent LGBTQ+ homelessness, providing safe homes, employment, education and training to help those who need its service build brighter futures.
The work doesn’t stop here. We’re keen to ensure we continue to truly impact and create a workplace where everyone feels a true sense of belonging.
