TotallyMoney’s Big Hack is returning for another year

Last year’s Big Hack 2020 was a stellar success at TotallyMoney, with lots of great ideas and cross-functional teams working together to build innovative creations in just 24 hours. In fact, it was such a success that we’re doing it again this year, with Big Hack 2021!

For those not in the know, a hack day offers the chance for everyone at TotallyMoney to create something. We believe Big Hack should be for everyone, not just the tech team, so better things can be achieved from a wider pool of skillsets.

At TotallyMoney, we have an internal Slack channel named #totallymenu, where we show off food we’ve cooked that we’re proud of and ask for restaurant recommendations. For last year’s Big Hack, a group of employees made a recipe book from photos and meal suggestions submitted to the channel, so everyone could easily find the best ideas. And now the recipe book is used by people all over the company!

In the same vein, the things creators make during Big Hack don’t have to be work-related, and in fact we encourage creators to make something that has nothing to do with their normal day job.

It’s up to each individual how they get involved in Big Hack 2021. They could join a team and collaborate on one idea, or they could work solo on their own idea. Of course, participation isn’t mandatory, and some prefer to just watch the presentations at the end of the 24 hours.

Big Hack 2021 will start on the afternoon of Thursday 8th July, finishing 24 hours later. Get hyped!
