why again people penalised for trying to live life right, working all the hours under the sun?there,s plenty help for people on benefits and now help for people who do not own their house with debt help, but in order for normal people to get this help they have to sell their homes and become homeless even with children, why does the goverment not help us too?

Hi Alison, thanks for your article. I thought a 'debt relief' order was too good to be true and, looking at it in further detail it is, in my case. I do own my own home although I'm very heavily mortgaged, and do have a 'disposable' income of more than £50 as I'm currently paying £112 into a debt management plan. I think it will take a long time to get rid of my current debts! However, very good general advice - I didn't realise there were so many insolvencies last year!
