At TotallyMoney we’re committed to going the extra mile for a worthy cause

End Duchenne in Ten

This year, the company has chosen to support the Duchenne Children’s Trust. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disease diagnosed in childhood. With an estimated 300,000 sufferers worldwide, we felt this charity deserved our support.

A short film all about the Duchenne Children’s Trust

The charity is run by parents of sufferers, with the mission to fund clinical research and trials for treatments that will help children and young adults living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The charity’s main goal is to beat the disease in a decade: “To End Duchenne in Ten”.

They have already managed to raise £3 million in three years, and we are very happy to be able to help support them in their cause. TotallyMoney will donate a percentage of profit to the Duchenne Children’s Trust.

In addition, we are matching any money raised by TotallyMoney staff’s individual fundraising efforts. So far, we have raised more than £1,000 from a bake-off, race night and Christmas concert. And with lots more planned for 2016, we will continue to help the Duchenne Children’s Trust in their efforts to end this terrible disease.

The Duchenne Children’s Trust funds translational research, and aims to help bring promising medicines from the laboratory bench to the patients’ bedside. There are no geographical boundaries to their funding – they want only to fund the most promising treatments.

There are now more than 20 potential treatments in the drug development pipeline. To date, the Trust has co-funded three Phase 1 clinical trials, helping researchers and scientists to prove that their drugs work, which will then encourage big investment to take promising medicines forward.

The Trust funds basic and pre-clinical work too, because while much is known about what causes Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, there is always more to learn.

Previous activities

In previous years we have helped support people in achieving financial independence and reaching their full potential

MicroLoan Foundation

We believe that giving people a better understanding of their finances is the beginning to a brighter future. Our team has supported the MicroLoan Foundation which provides small loans, financial education and mentoring to female entrepreneurs in some of the poorest countries in the world. Once they repay, the money is recycled to help thousands more women. Think hope, not handouts.

Mike Perham

Helping young people reach their full potential is important to us. In 2009, we were proud to be the lead sponsor of Michael Perham, who became the youngest person to sail single-handedly around the world in his yacht, TotallyMoney. At the time we were told it was too dangerous, too difficult and was giving too much responsibility to someone too young – which is exactly why we said yes.
