Seems like Christmas really is just around the corner now, and it’s got me thinking about the season of giving. Christmas is, obviously, a common time for thinking about others and acting a little bit more charitably than usual.
I am certainly more conscious of making donations to charity around the holidays, but this year I am thinking about giving time instead of money. Seeing as I now work from home, it will be much easier for me to donate time as opposed to money – sometimes I feel like volunteering is a much more valuable way to help others as opposed to just giving money. Don’t get me wrong, money is certainly invaluable to those organisations that rely on your regular donations for survival and to continue doing their good work. I’m just feeling like I might do something different this year, seeing as I literally have more time.
I noticed that the church around the corner of my house runs a soup kitchen for the homeless and needy three times a week during the winter, and they are looking for volunteers. So I think I will check it out and see if I can be of help to them a couple times a week.
Do you usually give to charity more than usual around Christmas?

This is always my plan, to give my time when I feel like I can’t spare the money. I never seem to have enough of either, though.
At least here in the US, Christmas is a great time for charities – everyone is trying to get in some tax deductions before the end of the year!
Spelling my name wrong == awesome!
I try to give constantly, every month and then COUNTER cyclically i.e. not during the holidays.

i really dont give much time at chrismas- just spend alot of hard earned money on people that are close to me. Time is a rare commodity over the festive period. But seeing as how i am broke this season, i may try giving out time because for some reason, i have enough of that to go around
